1. Policy Statement
Think Cre8tive Group CIC is committed to safeguarding the wellbeing, dignity, and rights of all residents, staff, and visitors in the care homes where we deliver our programmes. We recognise that residents may be at increased risk of harm due to age, frailty, health conditions, or dependency, and we will take all reasonable steps to protect them from abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. All staff, facilitators, and volunteers have a duty of care to recognise and report concerns.
2. Purpose
This policy ensures:
- Residents in care homes are safe and supported during our activities.
- Staff and volunteers understand their safeguarding responsibilities.
- Concerns are reported promptly and effectively.
- Practice aligns with statutory safeguarding guidance and local authority procedures.
3. Scope
This policy applies to:
- All Think Cre8tive Group CIC staff, facilitators, and volunteers.
- All programmes delivered in care homes.
- Residents, staff, and visitors engaged in our activities.
4. Safeguarding Definitions
- Abuse – physical, emotional, financial, sexual, discriminatory, neglect, organisational abuse.
- Neglect – failure to meet basic care needs, including medical, personal care, or emotional support.
- Exploitation – unfair or illegal use of a person’s resources, trust, or vulnerability.
5. Key Principles
Our approach is guided by the 6 principles of adult safeguarding (Care Act 2014):
- Empowerment – residents are supported to make choices and give consent.
- Prevention – action is taken to stop harm before it occurs.
- Proportionality – responses are appropriate to the level of risk.
- Protection – those at greatest risk are safeguarded.
- Partnership – we work with care home staff, families, and statutory agencies.
- Accountability – transparency in reporting and recording safeguarding concerns.
6. Responsibilities
- Board of Directors – ensure effective safeguarding policies and training are in place.
- Safeguarding Lead – oversees implementation, reports concerns to local safeguarding boards.
- Staff & Volunteers – responsible for recognising and reporting concerns.
- Care Home Partners – lead on residents’ safeguarding within their setting, liaising with our team.
7. Safeguarding Procedures
Before Sessions
- All facilitators and volunteers must complete safeguarding induction training.
- Risk assessments for each care home venue must be carried out.
- Consent must be confirmed with care home managers before photos, videos, or stories are collected.
During Sessions
- Staff and volunteers must be vigilant for signs of distress, abuse, or neglect.
- Ensure accessibility and wellbeing needs are met.
- Respect residents’ dignity, privacy, and choice in participation.
Reporting Concerns
- Concerns must be reported immediately to the Care Home Manager and Think Cre8tive Group Safeguarding Lead.
- If there is immediate danger, call 999.
- Record the concern on the Safeguarding Concern Form within 24 hours.
8. Training & Awareness
- All staff and volunteers will complete safeguarding training relevant to care home settings.
- Annual refresher training will be provided.
- Safeguarding is included in all inductions.
9. Confidentiality & Data Protection
- Safeguarding information is shared on a need-to-know basis only.
- Records are stored securely in line with our Data Protection & GDPR Policy.
10. Monitoring & Review
- Safeguarding procedures will be monitored regularly.
- The policy will be reviewed annually or following any safeguarding incident.
