We have more health benefits! Here we look at the way that singing helps us to be present:

Benefits of Singing: Being Present
Mindfulness practices often emphasise the importance of breath, and singing naturally incorporates breathwork. By focusing on breathing techniques, singers become more attuned to their body and present state. This connection between breath and voice helps individuals cultivate a sense of presence, grounding them in the moment and reducing anxiety.

In Mindfulness & Wellness Journal, a study highlighted how individuals who practiced singing reported increased mindfulness and self-awareness. Participants described feeling more present, less reactive, and more in tune with their emotions, demonstrating how singing can foster a meditative state.
This and other benefits are all included in our book, Unleash The Healing Power of Singing on Amazon, with more ideas and helpful hints. Please feel free to send us your experiences of singing with your groups, email info@thinkcre8tivegroup.com !

November 2025 Week 4

So, Halloween and Guy Fawkes are over, Remembrance services are celebrated and sung, sunset at 4pm – so this means one thing: Christmas prep is under way! Shops have been selling chocolate advent calendars for months – one shop assistant proudly told me that he’d bought (and finished) one of each type that had come in! But yeah, our groups are solidly practising our Christmas songs ready for our upcoming performances, and sounding really good

Health Benefits
We have more health benefits! Here we look at the way that singing is accessible and simple:

Benefits of Singing:

Meditative Quality
Singing involves focused breathing, intentional rhythm, and sustained attention, all of which create a meditative effect. When individuals sing, they are often fully absorbed in the moment, concentrating on the melody, lyrics, and rhythm. This state of mindfulness helps quiet the “mental chatter” that often accompanies stress and anxiety, allowing the mind to reset and refocus.

Research has shown that mindful activities like singing can reduce activity in the brain’s default mode network (DMN), which is associated with mind-wandering and self-referential thoughts. By quieting the DMN, singing promotes a sense of inner peace and mental clarity, similar to the effects of meditation. This and other benefits are all included in our book, Unleash The Healing Power of Singing on Amazon, with more ideas and helpful hints. Please feel free to send us your experiences of singing with your groups, email info@thinkcre8tivegroup.com !

November Week 3
No pics this week, but we’ve done our last Remembrance show (Tuesday) and our first 2 Christmas shows already! It’s a strange feeling, already rehearsing these songs, already having performed some of these songs – and it’s not yet December. So it was slightly jarring to go out to dinner last night straight from the performance, still wearing my super warm “Jingle” Christmas jumper (thank you Sainsbury’s!) – and to be greeted by the waiter with, “Hello, Jingle!”Socials

We have more health benefits! Here we look at the way that singing is accessible and simple:

Benefits of Singing: Building Confidence
Singing can also be an empowering practice that builds confidence and self-acceptance. Many people are initially self-conscious about their voices, but over time, singing can help individuals overcome these insecurities and develop a positive relationship with their own voice. This self-acceptance extends beyond singing, fostering a greater sense of confidence and resilience in daily life.A study published in Arts in Psychotherapy found that individuals who participated in singing-based therapy reported increased self-esteem and a positive shift in self-image. By embracing their voices, participants were able to confront self-doubt and develop a stronger sense of self-worth.This and other benefits are all included in our book, Unleash The Healing Power of Singing on Amazon, with more ideas and helpful hints. Please feel free to send us your experiences of singing with your groups, email info@thinkcre8tivegroup.com !

October 2025 Week 4

61acacdb 0ba9 4152 B4d5 B7fc7c199cf2
October Week 4A weekend of fireworks! At least, that is how we started the weekend. Finished with clocks going back and spectacular rain – and last minute tomato-picking before the notorious first frosts hit. I’ve ended up with a load of black tomatoes though, and no idea where they came from. Planted seeds from yellow tomatoes I bought last year, and now I have countless “midnight tomatoes”! On top of which I have so many more bulbs to plant, pots and plant boxes to clear and pack away, just never enough time, so many jobs to do in a garden – they never end, especially when you have a little dog to walk, too.

We hope you’re still enjoying the 50s-60s rocking songs, and don’t forget the links to the older reps from last month and last year, at the bottom of the page – always something to sing.Socials

Benefits of Singing: Short and Long Term
Singing offers both immediate and cumulative benefits. In moments of stress, singing can provide quick relief by triggering the release of endorphins and reducing cortisol levels. Over time, a regular singing practice builds resilience to stress by enhancing lung capacity, increasing vagal tone, and promoting neuroplasticity. This combination of immediate and long-term effects makes singing a flexible, sustainable tool for managing stress. This and other benefits are all included in our book, Unleash The Healing Power of Singing on Amazon, with more ideas and helpful hints. Please feel free to send us your experiences of singing with your groups, email info@thinkcre8tivegroup.com !

We have more health benefits! Here we look at the way that singing is accessible and simple:

Benefits of Singing: Accessible Simplicity
One of the greatest advantages of using singing for stress management is its simplicity and accessibility. Unlike other stress-relief practices that require specific equipment, environments, or lengthy time commitments, singing can be done almost anywhere and at any time. This accessibility means that people can use singing to self-regulate during moments of acute stress or to maintain a consistent wellness routine. This and other benefits are all included in our book, Unleash The Healing Power of Singing on Amazon, with more ideas and helpful hints. Please feel free to send us your experiences of singing with your groups, email info@thinkcre8tivegroup.com !

October 2025 Week 2

October Week 2
Grey mornings, bright afternoons, leaves the colours of the rainbow – and spotted mushrooms in woodlands! Until I started walking my new puppy on my own, I always thought they  were fanciful artist impressions for Enid Blyton books – aren’t they spectacular in real life!

Well, we’ve started our new month of 50s-60s rocking songs, number one on the podcasts again (!), and ironically, in our groups, we’ll be starting with our Remembrance rehearsals this week in preparation for a few performances we’ve been asked to deliver. We hope you are continuing to enjoy these belting numbers – our live group have found the beginning to be reasonably hard work, but it keeps getting better toward the end!

Benefits of Singing: Stress Reduction

The science behind singing provides strong evidence for its role in stress reduction, making it a valuable practice for improving quality of life. But beyond the physiological and psychological mechanisms, what makes singing so accessible and effective as a tool for managing everyday stress? Let’s explore the practical aspects that make singing an ideal addition to one’s mental wellness.
